Step 1: Determine the schools to which you wish to apply and the application deadlines. Take note if there are strict deadlines or if the schools are rolling admission. If the school is rolling admission, it is better to apply early in the fall. Complete and submit the applications.
Step 2:ight sideTo submit a transcript: On the main guidance page, you will find a large button at the bottom of the page which says “request my transcript.” Transcripts are sent to schools, electronically and securely, through Parchment.com.
Step 3: If you are requesting letters of recommendation from teachers or your guidance counselor, please complete the Recommendation form. Submit this to the guidance office and request copies of the forms for teachers. Teachers will use this information to write your letter of recommendation and will send the letter directly to the guidance office. Make sure to tell let Ms. Ritter know which colleges are to receive your recommendations so that they can be forwarded in a timely manner.

Notes about timing: It is important to give yourself and our staff sufficient time. We request 5 business days for turnaround time for transcripts. We also suggest that you give teachers several weeks’ notice for writing your recommendation.

How do I pick a school for me?
Choosing colleges can be overwhelming. Try not to fret. Do some personal searching for what type of school and environment you want your 11th grade Career Prep. class will guide you through this process, als0. There are a variety of college search websites and tools available – contact your Counselor and/or a Career Prep. teacher for search tool suggestions/recommendations.
To how many schools should I apply?
There is no absolute correct number of applications. It’s recommended that you apply to at least one school where you are confident you will be admitted. Pick at least one more that you are hopeful about, but not so definite. Then pick at least one “reach” school (a school you’d like to attend, but you might not get in to). Also, consider cost in your planning.
