Mrs. Metzger’s afternoon classes had a guest speaker, Trever Hess from Meck-Tech Inc.
Mr. Hess is a civil engineer and worked with her students to connect 6th grade math standards(%, ratios, conversions,…) to the construction that we are seeing in our area for the bypass and other local sites. Students calculated problems and realized the importance of accurate math when planning to move soil, calculating drainage, buying materials, and building structures. This is one of the many opportunities that Mrs. Schaffer-Neitz has brought to our middle school through her Career Center that is located at the high school.
